Dress should be neat and appropriate for the school setting. Student dress should not be distracting or revealing. The Washington County School District has set dress codes and guidelines to include the following items: · The attire and grooming of all students should be neat, clean and safe.
· Facial, body piercing, or gauging is not permitted at school (earrings are allowed). · Students have the responsibility to avoid apparel that is so extreme that it interrupts the school order or adversely affects the educational process.
· Students have the responsibility to cooperate fully with clothing standards required for special classes (shop, consumer science, laboratories, etc.) And special school activities.
· Hair, including beards, mustaches and sideburns, should be groomed so that they are neat and clean. Hair color must be a naturally occuring color; i.e., red, brown, black, blonde.
· Printed apparel is accepted only if it is in good taste. Any apparel displaying profanity, suggestive slogans, or that promotes substances illegal for consumption by a minor (e.g.: beer/tobacco) are not allowed.
· Hats are not to be worn in school at any time. (7:45 am to 3:15 pm school days)
· Clothing that is mutilated or immodest is not appropriate school wear. Any apparel revealing bare shoulders is not permissible. Short and skirt lengths should be modest and not revealing. They should be no shorter than four inches above the top of the kneecap in a standing position (not above fingertips with arms extended at the sides).
· Any apparel approved for school wear should also be worn with appropriate underwear and footwear. Student’s underwear cannot be exposed. (Both boys and girls).
· Gang related clothing will not be allowed on campus.
